Cayman Islands Pirate Week: November 12th to 22nd

The Cayman Islands’ National Festival, Pirates Week is eleven fun filled days—featuring music, street dances, competitions, games, wonderful local food and drink, kids day, a glittering parade, sports events for everyone, Heritage Days, pirate invasion and fireworks galore! In fact, with so much happening, you just might want to extend your vacation to take it all in!

The Festival starts off with a fantastic steel pan competition and kick-off party that includes the crowning of the Festival Queen, the opening Street Dance and Food Festival and spectacular fireworks.

On the first Saturday, a mock ‘pirate invasion’ is staged from the sea. Two old-time sailing vessels, loaded with pirates, make a Saturday surprise landing at the bowl-shaped George Town harbor and even capture the Governor.

Thousands of people line the streets to watch the spectacle. The only event of its kind in the Caribbean, it’s good-natured fun for all ages with a new twist every year.

Keep checking the website (piratesweekfestival.com) for updates and special offers. You can also become a fan of the festival on Facebook or follow us on Twitter and if you want to be in the ‘pirate invasion’ or volunteer for the festival then please email pirates@candw.ky.
